Caravel was the most responsive and helpful when attempting to find care for our children. With each program tailored to that child’s specific needs, we saw phenomenal growth. This was accompanied by monthly meetings that gave us updates on our child’s growth, deficits, and what was to come in their programming. During these meetings parents can express changes and issues that are new or changing. This helps the staff further tailor the program to the child’s needs. We needed some at home aids and they would always print them off and have them ready to be taken home. That way the kid can have the same structure and expectations at home, as they do at school. The staff genuinely care and are invested in the growth of these kids. I can honestly say that without the help and work of Caravel, my child would not have been even remotely prepared to enter traditional school.
The communication that Caravel provides is unlike anything I’ve experienced in any other setting. When issues arose, or we didn’t quite understand what our child was telling us about a situation at school. Victoria and Amy did not hesitate to hold a meeting that same day so that we could discuss the situation. Answers always came quickly, and you could tell the staff was always looking for ways to improve. The staff genuinely loves and cares for these children. You can see it on how they interact with your child, and how much you hear about the staff on days off. While we have moved on to public school (Huge thanks to the staff!) the kids still ask about “Amy, Mae, Victoria…” and everyone else. We have taken time to visit on random afternoons. The staff are just as excited as the kids to see one another when we do these visits.
I cannot express how important something like Caravel is to the growth of ASD children is.
I cannot recommend Caravel in Howard enough. If you need help Caravel is the place. If you have a choice, please go to Howard.
