Amanda has been providing services to children and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disability (ASD) and related disabilities in school, home, clinic, and community settings since 2001. While pursuing a bachelor’s degree at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa, Amanda worked in a children’s residential setting and found a passion for serving individuals with special needs. Upon moving to the Mankato area, she began her career in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Since 2008, she has supported the growth of services to the region and has gone on to earn her master’s degree in psychology with an emphasis in ABA. Amanda has a long history of developing client-focused, high-quality behavior analytic programs while building a strong therapeutic team; she believes that quality services occur through the investment and training of quality staff. Amanda seeks to celebrate every milestone, no matter how small it may seem, for the clients, families, and staff she serves.
Danielle has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) since 2012. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Bethany Lutheran College in 2016 and earned her master’s degree in ABA from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology in 2020. Danielle has worked with individuals ranging from 18 months to 80 years affected by autism spectrum disability and other disabilities, along with their families, in community, clinic, and residential group home settings. She is particularly interested in functional communication training and preventing, minimizing, and managing behavior crises. Danielle is passionate about developing plans that are individualized and target socially significant goals and loves seeing the growth and success of not only the clients and families she works with but the care team as whole.
Michelle has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) since 2021. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Minnesota State University in 2014 and earned her master of science in ABA from Capella University in 2020. As both a clinician and a parent to an autistic child, Michelle approaches therapy grounded in empathy, advocacy, and deep respect for neurodivergent voices. She specializes in assent-based, trauma-informed practices and enjoys collaborating closely with families, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to create meaningful, sustainable progress. With experience leading a multidisciplinary ABA clinic in Hawai‘i, Michelle is also passionate about mentoring future clinicians and fostering supportive, ethical environments for both clients and staff.
Stephanie has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis for more than two decades and has been with Caravel since 2021. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from College of Saint Benedict/Saint John’s University in 2005 and earned her master of science in psychology with a focus on ABA from Capella University in 2023. Throughout her career, Stephanie has worked with individuals of various ages on behavior reduction and stereotypy across settings—group homes, schools, community, and clinics. She currently focuses on 2–5-year-olds, particularly on developing functional communication. Stephanie is committed to fostering independence and success in each client and supporting clients in building skills for greater independence and reaching personal milestones.
Kayla has been working in the field of Applied Behavior (ABA) since 2020. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychological studies from Gustavus Adolphus College in 2020 and earned her master of science in ABA, with a specialization in Autism Spectrum Disorder, in 2025. Kayla is highly invested in supporting her clients’ growth through developing functional communication. She values collaboration with families and care teams to ensure skills are meaningful and transferable across settings. Kayla takes a strengths-based approach and tailors intervention to meet each client’s unique needs and goals.
Hannah has been working in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) since 2016. She graduated with a bachelor of science in both cognitive science and psychology from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 2014 and earned her master’s degree in ABA at Ball State University in 2024. Hannah has dedicated her career to supporting children and adults with disabilities since 2008 and discovered her passion for ABA in 2016. With experience across home, clinic, and community settings, she focuses on empowering clients to communicate their needs and achieve meaningful, lasting growth. Hannah is deeply committed to autism acceptance, community inclusion, and advocating for individuals and families to thrive in every environment.

Prior to beginning treatment, a diagnostic evaluation is required. Additional testing is based on individual need and is only used if the testing will help us to design a program or treatment. In general, testing is used to help diagnose disorders and determine levels of intellectual functioning, language ability or adaptive skills. Caravel provides diagnostic evaluations or if you have one from another professional source, that can usually also be used. Testing can also be helpful to chart the effectiveness of therapy.
An evaluation and any diagnostic testing will be billed to insurance (and/or Medicaid where permissible). Testing may be a part of the initial assessment or follow-up assessment. Please check with your insurance company. Typically, your family would be responsible for a potential deductible and/or co-pay. In some states, if you have Medicaid there would be no charge for the assessment beyond what is reimbursed by Medicaid. Any questions regarding financial responsibility may be discussed prior to an appointment with our billing staff. If testing would pose a financial hardship for the family, this should be discussed with billing. We work with parents/guardians to meet the needs of their individual case. Expenses can be spread over time.
Therapy treatment typically takes place in a local Caravel clinic. Under limited and clinically appropriate circumstances, we recommend that some children receive therapy in a home-based setting.
ABA therapy programs are wide-ranging and covers all areas in which your child needs to be successful. Goals are created and broken down into small steps. The steps are then organized into a logical order and taught one small step at a time. Areas may include communication, behavioral, functional and social skills.
Research shows that the greater the amount of hours, the better the outcome for children with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Children with an autism characteristically do not learn naturally throughout their days like typically developing children do. Learning is a full-time job for children that typically occurs without being noticed. Children with an autism need to be taught to learn. This means many hours of practicing these skills. Parent/guardian training and involvement is also an essential part of a successful ABA program. Tools and techniques of ABA should be incorporated into daily life. The amount of ABA therapy needed will depend on a variety of factors to be determined in the diagnostic evaluation.
Parent/guardians are trained to do individual therapy with their child. We recommend that parent/guardians engage their child in a few hours of therapy a week to be familiar with what their child is learning. Parent/guardians are encouraged to join team meetings and training provided by clinic staff or outside professionals.
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is data-driven, so your clinical team will consistently record data and write session notes during each therapy session, documenting your child’s responses using our proprietary computerized data system.
Our clinicians often work closely with other professionals because we realize that different experts can add valuable insight into treatment. If suggestions can be added to a treatment plan without crossing ethical or professional boundaries, we will bring these suggestions into therapy.
