EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – Families in Eau Claire are invited to spend an evening with local police, first responders and community partners at this year’s National Night Out.
The free event is set for Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Carson Park.
National Night Out is a nationwide effort to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and neighbors, with a focus on crime prevention, safety and community-building. In Eau Claire, the police department uses the night to meet families in a low-stress setting.
Visitors can expect family-friendly activities, a chance to see squad cars and other emergency vehicles up close, safety information booths and opportunities to talk one-on-one with officers and community partners.
Supporting neurodiverse families
This year’s event is sponsored by Caravel Autism Health, which works with children and families affected by autism. The clinic is partnering with police to help make the night more welcoming and sensory-aware for neurodiverse kids.
Organizers say it’s a chance to ask questions about safety and crime prevention, help kids recognize trusted adults in uniform, and connect with local resources and support services.
The event is free and open to the public.
